The classic short trek from Kathmandu's rim: start at Sundarijal an hour from the city, climb through Shivapuri's forest and follow the Helambu ridge through Hyolmo Sherpa villages and old monasteries. Low enough to run year-round, high enough for real mountain views. Guide and teahouse lodging included.

Broken-in boots, warm layers & down jacket, rain shell, headlamp, water bottle/purification, sunhat & sunscreen, personal first-aid and any medication.
